The apartments are definitely on the small size and the apartment I rented had fility carpeting all the way through. Management did offer to have the carpet re-cleaned, however, it really needed to be replaced. The lights and ceiling fan in the master bedroom were not even working. You would think Management would have fixed that before letting the place! One can definitely hear the pitter-patter of the children/adults overhead if you are unfornate enough to land an apartment on the ground floor. Voices can also be heard through the thin walls.

Be ready for unexpected! Additions to the rent, i.e. garbage collection fees, and increases in rent are not uncommon (at least that has been my experience! I had agreed to a year's lease at a set price and was informed that I could only have a shorter lease, at the end of which I would be required to pay an additional $65.00 per month as the apartment was under new management. Another surprise was the #45.00 per month fee added for garbage collection, which was not part of the original lease agreement. New Management!

As for the staff, the staff were nice enough but the manager was not at all helpful, making my relocation a bad experience. I was not shown any models before hand and was only allowed to see the apartment for the first time after signing the lease and going downtown to put the power in my name. I was relieved to learn that this was not the typical way business is done in Alabama and this was an exception. I found better establishments truly welcome business from newcomers, especially military!

On the positive side, Bell Station does have a swimming pool; albeit small. They also have a club house which doubles as an office for staff, which makes it not as welcoming for tenants and their guests to hang out. It is a gated community in a safe part of town with convenient shopping hearby. There is also assigned parking for tenants. Small pets are welcome and there is a non-refundable fee per pet.

Alas, I ended up moving! Bell Station Apartments will definitely remain one of the negative experiences I have had in Alabama, challenging my recent tour in Iraq.

I am happy here. The people that work here are nice and attentive. I really like having the gate though for the last few months there have been a few weeks where it was not working and they wre having it done over.
They keep this place clean and the gys who do the work on the property and the apartments always seem to be real busy on the property. When there is something wrong in my apartment it gets taken care of pretty quickly.
there is assighed parking here and a couple of times there has been someone in my spot, I usually let it go, but I have seen the staff out towing someone parking illegally in other residents spots a couple of times and they were always on the weekend late at night. I am in a one bedroom and have had to call maintenace on a weekend for a clogged toilet and the lady who is in charge of maintenance here came asap to take care of it for me. She was very nice and did not want me to feel bad for calling her out on the weekend. She said that was her job and considering I have only one toilet that it was an emergency.
The manager has been on maternity leave and the asst manager has been doing a great job. She is always smiling and is super sweet and helpful. I was having my car worked on at the dealership and forgot my house key and she came out late that evening to let me in my apartment and had another key made for me on the spot.
This place is really nice, I have been here almost 2 years and so far I have no reason to leave. I recommended this place to a friend and she is happy too. She lived at The Mark and left because of the noise and there were a lot of problems in her apartment and they would take up to two weeks to fix things. We laugh about it sometimes since she can literally walk across the parking lot to get the maintenance lady if she had to. It is real quiet here. You hardly ever hear a car booming in the parking lot. They are real strict about that here.
I am grateful that I found this place and I would suggest living here to anyone.

I'm not a resident but often visit (and occasionaly overnight)one of my friends who's been living there for 2 years. This residence for sure does not deserve a 5.0 rating and to give some prospective to what has been claimed on this site the last 18 months, I would like to submit following comments:

Management is friendly but only available 5 days out of 7 par week.
The location is very convenient with a nearby Bruno's, several cleaners, banks and ATMs, a bunch of restaurants and a gas station. Even a full YMCA facility and a library are nearby.
The residence is entirely fenced and gated but several vehicles have been broken into over the last 18 months.
The parking spots are well marked and lighting is adequate but not sufficient.
Maintenance is experienced but overworked at times. Landscaping is done once a week but their equipment is old and very loud.
Much dog poop can be seen on the grass around the property. Imagine your children stepping into it while playing.
It's one of the few properties I know with build-in radio-speakers on the living room ceiling but the quality is not good and the sound carries easily into the neighbors' units. This feature is not a bonus but a distinct nuisance/liability!
Water charges are paid by the tenants. Water meters were installed a couple of years ago and managed by a Birmingham utility. The rates are very high. My friend with water usage similar to mine is charged more that 3 times what I pay at my residence further East.
In my friend's unit, the appliances are old, the ceiling fans are noisy and the carpeting is cheap.
Poor drainage on the walkways leading to the front dooors. During and after heavy downpoors, pity the residents whose units are located in the rear.
