I stayed in VG when i first moved to montgomery for school in 2004 and didn't know any better. i'm sorry to the staff (who were very nice by the way), but the place is H-double-O-D... HOOD. i stayed across the breezeway from a family of very loud immigrants (unsure of nationality) who were always outside doing something with a bad little boy that went knocking on doors. downstairs from what was obviously a 3000 lb man by the way i could hear every footstep as he walked. downstairs also from this hoodlum that would try to flirt with me everytime i arrived home. downstairs also from people that swept trash over the side of the awning. (i know u must be wondering who in the heck stayed upstairs'' i wondered that too!) wound up getting my car broken into for a CD player that didn't even work. needless to say, as soon as my lease was up, i was up (and out) as well.

as said by the previous poster (who sounds like staff), it is obviously the people in the community that ruin this place. the staff was nice, the buildings/apts themselves were ok... a bit dated but ok. the grounds could have used help. that really isnt a bad area. just the people.... but what can u do'

As a member of the Village Green Apartment Community, I am very pride of the community that we have at Village Green Apartments. Unfortuntly, there are a number of residents and vistors of the community that do not share the same pride as we do. Understand, that the strenght and overall appeal of a community starts with it residents. We are very fair and sometime offer extra concessions (due to the Fair Housing Laws) when we are approving applicates, only to find out that they are not worthy residents. We have witinessed a number of residents that do pay their rents on time, allow there children to destory our playround and pool area, and dump trash throughout the property. We strive to provide a safe, fun community for our residents, but if our residents do take pride in there own dwelling and take action within their families to assure that we have a great community; then what we strive to do as management and staff is in-vain...The energy that has been made to post some of these negative comments, could have been the same energy to make Village Green Apartments are better place...By just sitting and watching these actions, that are claimed through some these comments, does not make for a valid point-of-view; when there is something that can be done about it...The statement was made that Village Green is the "Ghetto", well, if you bring your Ghetto ways and behavior with you from the Ghetto, then that is what your living environment will become...We all can have a wonderful community where ever we live, but the condition of the community depends on its residents and the pride they have for and in their communities.

Frankly, I do not understand how some people get to live in Village Green. I have lived here a long time and would not qualify now if I had to due to the income level requirement. I have never had a problem paying my rent and according to the applications I have seen, all the apartment complexes have ridiculous approval standards which apparently get ignored or adjusted somehow. Anyway, my research indicates this is one of the lower-priced comparable complexes for the ammenities provided---or 'tried-to-be-provided'; because it's true some residents spoil it for all of us-- by stealing, being trashy, or non-considerate of others, etc. What can be done of these undesirables; they have to live somewhere, and somehow some get in/ got in Village Green. (Some of the raters here seem like they were part of the problem). The staff is professionally nice and take no b.s., if you know what i mean which makes it simple to/ for me. The police officers who live on the complex may as well be non-existent to residents as we still must call 911 for any problems of that type. There is no feeling of on-site security. A personal gripe I have is that long-time residents (3 years +) can't get new carpet, even upon lease renewal, which I think is crap. Can't even move to a different unit with better carpet---unless you go thru the whole re-qualification application process. And pay a transfer fee. It doesn't make sense to me to lose good residents because they can't get their old carpet replaced or even get better carpet by moving to a different unit. 3 years is the 'standard' for Village Green to replace carpet between DIFFERENT resident leases (earlier if the carpet was damaged)---but there is NO provision for long-time residents to get 'new' carpet. Oh, unless they pay a transfer fee, and must re-qualify or other similarl requirements. Sometimes carpet cleaning just doesn't do the job. I think this is a nice place compared to similar choices. But I will move (even to higher price complex) when I'm fed up with this carpet issue.
